NCSP Group’s cargo throughput down 1.4%, box volume soars 70%
Cargo throughput of Novorossiysk Commercial Sea Port (NCSP) in January-April 2011 fell 1.4% from the same period in 2010, to 50 million 847.4 thousand tons, the Group said. The four-month figures include the volume handled by Primorsk Trade Port ltd.
The Group reported for April a 6.7-percent gain to 13 million 602.1 thousand tons of cargo.
In January-April liquid bulk increased by 2.7% to 43 million 361.4 thousand tons (in April - by 11.7%, to 11,467,500 tons). Crude exports slightly fell to 37 million 76 thousand tons, while in April shipments of crude oil rose by 9.4% to 9,994,500 tons.
In the reporting period bulk cargo volume shrank by 40% to 2,674,100 tons (April –down 32.6% to 841,900 tons), general cargo – by 18%, to 3,137,200 tons (a 6.4% drop in April, to 861,800 tons). Container trade soared by 70% from a year earlier to 208,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (April – up 51.1%, to 54,900 TEUs).
