Samjin Shipbuilding gets contract for two 4,700 teu ships
South Korean shipbuilder Samjin Shipbuilding Industries, located in Weihai, China, has inked a newbuilding contract for two 4,700 teu ships. The owner is thought to be a large German company with a price in the region of $59m per unit.
The vessels will have a length of 251 m, a breadth of 37.3 m, a depth of 19.8 m and will be delivered to from mid-2013.
Samjin has inked new orders for 16 ships so far this year, including four 33,500dwt bulkers, six 36,000dwt bulkers, four 58,000dwt bulkers and two 4,700 teu containerships.
The South Korean shipyard expects to win around 30 ship orders this year.
