Transport Ministry authorized to update classification of river-sea vessels

The Russian Government on 9 June 2011 decided to increase the scope of authority of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation, the Ministry said.

The decision will give the Ministry the authority to approve the Regulations on classification of the river and mixed sea-river ships. This will help bringing the vessels classification in line with modern requirements.

The Ministry noted, the main speaker on the issue at the government’s meeting was Viktor Olersky, Deputy Transport Minister.
