Seaspan adds 61st ship
Container ship owner-charterer Seaspan took delivery of the first of new eight containerships with capacities of 13,100 20-foot-equivalent units, the Journal of Commerce reported.
Seaspan chartered the Cosco Glory, built by South Korea’s Hyundai Heavy Industries, to Cosco Container Lines under a 12-year, fixed-rate time charter. The ship is the 11th of 18 vessels Seaspan has chartered to Cosco.
The new ship is Seaspan’s largest. It is the sixth new ship for which Seaspan has taken delivery this year, and expands the company’s operating fleet to 61 vessels.
Seaspan vessels are chartered to Maersk Line, Cosco, CSAV, China Shipping, Hapag-Lloyd, “K” Line, MOL and United Arab Shipping.
