FO's traffic volume grows 12.8% to 123 m tons

Freight volume transported by Russian rail company Freight One (FO) for the period of five months of 2011 increased by 12.8% compared to January-May 2010, to 123 million tons, the company’s press release said.

In the reporting period the rail operator carried 47,3 million of coal, a 24.4-percent growth from a year earlier, 29 million tons of oil products, down 8.7% from last year's figure, 10,7 million tons of ferrous and iron ore (+8.4%), 9.2 million tons of construction materials (+63.6%), 5,2 million tons of cement (+7.6%), 8,5 million tons of ferrous metals (+14.7%), 2,3 million tons of chemicals and fertilizers (+5.3%) and 1,9 million tons of coke (+14.6%).

JSC Freight One is a leading provider of rail transportation in Russia. The Freight One was formed in 2007 by rail monopoly Russian Railways (RZD) that holds a 100-percent stake in the company. Currently FO owns and operates a fleet of over 200,000 units of rolling stock. In 2010, the rail operator carried 302,3 million tons of different cargoes.
