Transgarant’s traffic grows 2.5% to 10,7m tons in Jan-May

Freight turnover of Transgarant Group’s companies in January-May, 2011 increased by 3.1% compared with the same period of 2010, to 14,4 billion ton/km, the Group said.

Five-month traffic volume increased by 2.5% to 10,7 million tons. In the reporting period Transgarant transported by its own and leased rolling stock 5,2 million tons of coal (+4%), 832,000 tons of lime (+45%), 587,000 tons of gravel (+38%), 563,000 tons of metal (+20%), 193,000 tons of paper (+11%) and 205,000 tons of timber (a twofold growth). The volume of container traffic of the Group amounted to 55,000 TEUs (19%).

FESCO Transport Group’s rail division Transgarant Group specializes in rail transportation of goods for industrial use. Transgarant Group incorporates subsidiaries Transgarant-Ukraine, Transgarant-East, SIA Tektrans (Riga), a Khabarovsk-based warehouse facility "Stroyopttorg". The company owns and operates a rolling stock of 15,889 units of universal and specialized rail cars. The Group’s own rail cars account for 84%.
