Lawmakers to consider a bill supporting Russia’s shipbuilding and shipping industry
Russian State Duma’s Committee on Economic Policy and Entrepreneurship plans to consider the bill (№ 555755-5) that would encourage the shipbuilding and shipping industry of Russia on Friday, June 24, 2011, a spokeswoman for the Committee’s head told PortNews.
According to Natella Starodubtseva on Monday the Committee will assign the day of the first reading of the bill.
The bill, approved earlier by the Russian Government, was introduced to the State Duma on May 30, 2011. The bill was prepared by the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Industry and Trade with participation of United Shipbuilding Corporation, representatives of major Russian shipping companies.
Deputy Minister of Transport Viktor Olersky highlighted that the development of domestic shipping should be considered in tandem with revival of shipbuilding industry. The bill is believed to breathe new life into the sectors of Russia’s economy.
