Thoresen Thai rejects shareholder meeting call

Embattled Thoresen Thai Agencies has rejected a call by a group of shareholders to call an extraordinary general meeting (EGM), Seatrade Asia reported.

Thoresen Thai said it was not obliged to call an EGM as the 75 shareholders involved did not as claim represent 10% or more of the company’s shareholding. “The company examined the shareholders list by comparing the names and numbers of shares and found that some names are not listed as shareholders in accordance with the shareholder list, and for some other names, the number of shares is lower than the number stated in the letter,” Thoresen said.

Further it said some shareholders had withdrawn their request for an EGM. Thoresen Thai’s board of directors said the proposed agenda for the EGM did not “bring significant tangible benefits” to either the company or its shareholders.
