USC eyes buyout of Vyborg Shipyard
JSC United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) is considering the acquisition of Vyborg Shipyard (Leningrad region), USC’s President Roman Trotsenko said Monday, Forbes reported.
Mr. Trotsenko did not unveil the deal details.
"Now, the plant stays idle, so we get it involved in the work. At the same time we are negotiating the acquisition," Roman Trotsenko was quoted as saying.
United Shipbuilding Corporation, founded in 2007, incorporates three regional shipbuilding centers: JSC Western Shipbuilding Center (St. Petersburg), JSC Northern Center of Shipbuilding and Ship Repair (Severodvinsk), JSC Far Eastern Center of Shipbuilding and Ship Repair (Vladivostok), as well as leading marine design offices. United Shipbuilding Corporation also has a 50% stake in Arctech Helsinki Shipyard, a joint venture with STX Finland Cruise Oy.
Vyborg Shipyard specializes in the construction of drilling rigs for offshore deposits development and vessels of small and medium tonnage. Net loss (RAS) of Vyborg Shipyard for 9 months of 2010 totaled RUB 202,651,000 versus profit of RUB 1,227,076,000 a year earlier. Revenues shrank by 2.7 times, to RUB 7,849,754,000.
