Tender for 3 icebreakers contract to be held in July, official says
Bidding for 3 icebreakers contract will be held this July, Russian Deputy Transport Minister said on Thursday . The diesel-electric powered icebreakers will be built for Rosmorport.
“Most likely the 16MW icebreakers will be laid down in 2011,” Viktor Olersky said in an interview with journalists at the St. Petersburg Maritime Defense Show.
Besides, there is an option for construction of another diesel-electric icebreaker for Rosmorport, of rated power 25MW, the official said, and a nuclear-powered 60MW icebreaker for Atomflot.
Federal State Unitary Enterprise Rosmorport was established in 2003. The company manages federal assets in the ports of Russia, including sea berths, and operates the world's largest icebreaker fleet of 26 diesel-electric powered icebreakers.
