Maersk to launch transshipment West Mediterranean-Turkey service

DANISH carrier Maersk is to launch a new transshipment service for West Mediterranean to Turkey to link up Algeciras, Ambarli, Izmit, Izmir, Marsaxlokk, through the deployment of three 2,500 TEU ships.

The service launches following the removal of Gioia Tauro from its Asia/Europe services to include (ME-3) which will now call at Mersin, reports Paris-based maritime consultant Alphaliner. It will transship Asian containers bound for East Mediterranean by Suez Canal route and central Med at CMA CGM's Malta terminal.

The service will use the following port rotation of Port Said, Mersin, Ambarli, Port Said, Jebel Ali, Pipavav, Nhava Sheva, Jebel Ali, Salalah, Port Said.
