The Port of Tallinn has been in talks with India's Platinum Corporations for establishing an industrial park, LETA/Äripäev reports.
The Indian enterprise is interested in building a scrap metal processing plant in Estonia. The State-owned Port of Tallinn is offering the investors land in the industrial park of the South Port of Paldiski.
The Port of Tallinn's CEO Ain Kaljurand did not unvail the project details, but stated that this is the most advanced stage of negotiations that his company has achieved with other enterprises.
According to him, there are many positive sides to the project in question. “Having a renowned international enterprise invest in Estonia is a stamp of quality for the Estonian economy, he remarked. “We find that an industrial park in the vicinity of the port will create a major industrial area here where the advantages of the port could be used,” explained Kaljurand.
The country's Economic Affairs and Communications Minister Juhan Parts confirmed he had met with the representatives of Platinum Corporations. “We talked about their investment interests in Estonia,” he said. “However, they would like to comment on the particular investment plans themselves,” added the minister.
