FCT’s box volume grows 7.9% to 597,844 TEUs

CJSC First Container Terminal (FCT) in the first half of this year handled 597, 844 TEUs, 7.9% up from the same period a year earlier, the National Container Company’s press release said.

In June, container throughput of FCT rose by 14% to 113,171 TEUs. FCT handled 58,420 TEUs of outbound containers, 55,131 TEUs of inbound ones and 13,740 TEUs of reefer containers. The terminal handled 71 boxships, the average turnover per vessel was 1,594 TEUs.

Half-year container throughput of JSC Logistika-Terminal was 42,339 TEUs. In June, the terminal handled 7,191 TEUs (3,632 containers).

The first specialized terminal for handling containers was established in December 1973 in Leningrad seaport. A stevedoring company “First Container Company,” specializing in container handling was formed In October 1998. The FCT company is now part of National Container Company’s stevedoring assets.

The Terminal encompasses 89 hectares. Berths length - 780 meters, depths – 11,5 m. Container yard capacity - 29,5 TEUs, reefer containers - 2850 sockets, throughput – 1,3 million TEUs a year.
