Cargo volume transshipped at the port of Helsinki in the first half of this year grew by 5% compared with the same period of 2010, to 5,1 million tons, the Helsinki Port Authority said.
Exports grew by 3%, to 2,5 million tons, imports increased by 8% to 2,6 million tons.
During the reporting period, the port saw 3,7 million passengers, up 6% over last year's figure. In June, the port handled one million passengers (+10%).
Port of Helsinki is a largest port in Finland. Cargo throughput of the port in 2010 grew by 12% y-o-y to 10,921,000 tons, container traffic rose 11% to 399,903 TEUs, and Ro-Ro cargo shipments totaled 488,772 units (+ 13%).
