Marco Polo wins barge newbuilding contract

Marco Polo Marine has bagged a S$10m contract to build five barges. The Singapore-listed company is to build five 310 feet long barges for an undisclosed Indonesian customer, Seatrade Asia reports.

The vessels are scheduled for completion in the current financial year. “We are encouraged to see the continued growth in the number of our ship building contracts from third parties. Going forward, with the enhanced ship building capabilities provided by our experienced team, we target to construct and deliver larger as well as more sophisticated vessels,” said Sean Lee, ceo of Marco Polo.
