CHINA's largest carrier Cosco Container Lines has regained its place as the fourth largest container shipping company with an operated fleet of 600,000 TEU after receiving two 13,000-TEU ships last month.
The carrier was last ranked at No 4 in 1998, but started to lose market share to MSC and CMA CGM. Cosco has been keen to expand its fleet through charters since 2005. Today, its chartered fleet accounts for 44 per cent of total capacity, said Alphaliner.
