CMA CGM enters NZ-Asia trade to move meat and dairy products

Marseilles' CMA CGM will launch a fixed-day fortnightly Asia-New Zealand loop from Malaysia's Port Kelang in mid-July, with the intention of increasing it to a weekly service as demand rises.

The new venture is said to be the first New Zealand's Kotahi Logistics, established by the world's biggest dairy exporter Fonterra and meat producer Silver Fern Farms.

The new ANZEX will sail to North Island and South Island ports via New Caledonia from Port Kelang and then to north Asia, returning by way of Fiji on the rotation of Auckland, Port Chalmers, Lyttelton, Tauranga, Noumea, Port Kelang, Shenzhen-Chiwan, Shanghai, Busan, Suva and Auckland.

CMA CGM unit ANL Container Line will take slots and the first sailing will be that of the 2,202-TEU Ahrenkiel from Port Kelang on July 18.
