Half-year throughput of Ukraine seaports grows 6.2% to 56,3 million tons

Freight traffic volume handled at seaports of Ukraine in January-June this year increased by 6.2% compared to H1, 2010, to 56,319,000 tons, the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine said.

In the reporting period the country’s ports handled 20,626,000 tons of transit cargoes (up 26.6% yoy), largely ore, grain, metals, coal, oil, petroleum products and containers.

Among the leaders are Port of Yalta, which throughput surged by 55.7% from last year’s numbers, Port of Evpatoria port cargo volume rose by 41.7%, Port Yuzhny - an increase of 39%, Port Reni - 35.2% , Berdyansk port - 32.4%; Nikolaev port - 20.6%; Port of Kerch - 17.6%.

This year Port of Kerch transshipped by 101.7% more transit cargoes than a year before, Port Yuzhny transit cargo throughput soared by  81.7, Odesa port reported a 57.9 percent gain, Berdyansk port - 55.4%, Evpatoria port – 29.4%, Skadovskiy port (+24.1%), Nikolaev port (+23.4%), the port of Odessa (+22.5%), Reni port (+19%), Port of Mariupol (+9.2%).
