CPV acquires two new RTG cranes

Commercial Sea Port of Vladivostok (CPV) has taken delivery of two RTG cranes with lifting capacity of 45 tons and the production capacity of 30 containers per hour. The total cost of the equipment was around EUR 8 million, the company said.

The cranes were manufactured at Liebherr Container Cranes’ Killarney plant, Ireland. The cranes, which were tailored to the needs of the stevedoring company, feature broad 63-meter gauge

This year CPV plans to further expand its fleet. The company has purchased and put into service three Kalmar reachstackers, a Kalmar forklift truck with lifting capacity of 37 tons and 5 Toyota forklifts with lifting capacity ranging from 2.5 to 5 tons and 2 automatic spreaders for Gottwald cranes. Soon CPV takes delivery of two Kalmar tractors and 2 semi-trailers.

With the new equipment CPV plans to handle 400,000 TEUs in 2011, 15% more than a year earlier.

Commercial Seaport of Vladivostok OJSC, part of FESCO Transport Group, owns and operates its assets at the port of Vladivostok, one of the largest Russian seaports in the Far East. Port of Vladivostok encompasses 55 ha, over 14 km of waterfront with 17 berths, including terminals for handling grain, containers, imported cars and a passenger terminal. In 2010, CPV’s cargo throughput rose year-over-year by 11% to 6,9 million tons.
