Regional Prosecutor’s Office has filed criminal case over cruise ship wreckage on Sunday afternoon in the Volga River, the Volga Transport Prosecutor's Office said Monday.
The accident occurred on July 10 near the village of Syukeevo of Kama-Ust'insky region of the Republic of Tatarstan, when the Bulgaria, a double-decked passenger boat of displacement of 774 tons sank with 199 people on board. The ship owner is Kama River Shipping Company" (Perm). The MV Bulgaria was en route Kazan - Bulgaria - Kazan. 79 people have reportedly been saved, including 56 passengers and 23 crew members. As of 7:00am (LT), six dead bodies have been found.
