The train will be operated together by the State-owned railways company of Kazakhstan and by the subsidiary of Estonian Railways EVR Cargo.
The parties agreed that Estonia will take part in a business forum in Beijing organised by Kazakhstan that will in a longer-term perspective provide an opportunity to extend cargo transport on railways from Estonia to Western China.
The Port of Tallinn together with operators also issued concrete offers to the business delegation from Kazakhstan to process goods from Kazakhstan – such as oil, oil products, coal, metals and in future also liquid gases (LNG/LPG) – in the existing terminals.
In addition, the parties agreed that the Kazakhstan Association of Freight Forwarders and the Estonian logistics cluster will start regularly exchanging information on potential cargo flows.
