The Germany government is interested in supporting projects in Kenya, including the multi-billion dollar Lamu port infrastructure development, linking South Sudan and Ethiopia to the Kenyan Indian Ocean port, the Kenyan Presidential Press Service said in a statement, citing German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
The Lamu-Ethiopia-South Sudan project is estimated to cost US$22 billion, reported Dow Jones Newswires.
Lamu, a small town on Lamu Island, part of the Lamu Archipelago in Kenya, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and as a port has existed for at least a thousand years.
