Cochin Shipyard Limited launches two offshore vessels

Public sector Cochin Shipyard Ltd (CSL), has launched 2 Offshore Support vessels for the shipping corporation of India and a norwegian company, PTI reports. BY 80, an Anchor Handling Tug Supply Vessel for SCI and BY 84, a Platform Supply Vessel for M/s Brage Supplier, Norway were launched at a function at the CSL here yesterday, a press release said. The ships were launched by Shri V Radhakrishnan, Director (Technical), in the presence of Commodore K Subramaniam, CSL Chairman and MD and Ravikumar Roddam, Director (Finance). BY 080, to be named SCI Urja, is the last of a series of 4 Nos. 120T Bollard Pull Anchor Handling Tug Supply vessels (AHTS) being built for M/s Shipping Corporation of India Ltd., Mumbai. The vessel is of the AH03 design, designed by STX Europe and is classified under the Rules and Regulations of American Bureau of Shipping under Dual Class with the Indian Register of Shipping. The 66 x 16 M vessel is equipped with a 300 Tonnes Anchor Handling winch, Dynamic Positioning Grade 1 and fire fighting Grade 1, and is capable of all normal offshore supply functions. The Vessel with 29 persons accommodation also meets the requirements of ERRV Group C (Emergency Rescue & Response Vessel), vessel which will enable standby and rescue functions in case of an Oil field exigency. The vessel upon delivery will fly the Indian Flag and will be registered at Mumbai.BY 084 is the last of a series of 4 Platform Supply vessel of type PSV 09 CD designed by STX Europe being built for M/s Brage Supplier, Norway. The vessel is a modern large Diesel Electric PSV designed to cater to all around needs of the Offshore oil and gas industry. The 86 x 19 Metre vessel meets the highest levels of environmental safety denoted by the CLEAN DESIGN notation of M/s Det Norske Veritas, The vessel with accommodation for 44 persons in addition to the normal offshore supply operations, is capable of carrying methanol and is fitted with fire Fighter grade 1 equipment. The vessel is equipped with Dynamic positioning Grade 2 equipment. The yard presently has 34 Ships on order. The shipyard posted impressive performance for the fifth year in a row in 2010-11. The yard had achieved a turnover of Rs 1462 crores during 2010-11 as compared to Rs 1417 crores for the previous year and Net Profit of Rs 227.53 crores for 2010-11 as compared to Rs 223.04 crores for the previous year. This performance is creditable especially in the light of withdrawal of government subsidy to shipbuilding since August 2007.
