NYK Line enhance African service SWAX

Shipping Line Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK) has announced an upgrade and new service consortium for their South Africa and West Africa Express Service (SWAX). The SWAX service will now be a fixed day weekly service including new additional freight shipping services for Xiamen (China) and Port Kelang (Malaysia) with new partners China Shipping Container Lines, Hapag-Lloyd, and Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha.

The new service consortium will replace NYK’s current joint operation with Nile Dutch Africa Line and is expected to enhance their service to the growing West Africa market with greater frequency and more direct coverage.

Details for the new service are:

Frequency: 77 days round fixed weekly service

Vessel Deployment: 11 x 2,500 TEU vessels . "K" Line will deploy 2 vessels, China Shipping 4, Hapag-Lloyd 2 and the remaining 3 coming from Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK),

Port rotation: Shanghai (China) – Ningbo/Zhoushan (China) – Xiamen (China) – Shekou (China) – Singapore – Port Kelang (Malaysia) – Durban (South Africa) – Tema (Ghana) – Lome (Togo) – Cotonou (Benin) – Lagos/Tincan (Nigeria) – Durban – Port Kelang – Singapore - Shanghai

The new service will commence from Shanghai on the 23rd of August.
