"The question arises: who actually stands behind this? Who wants so hard to "pin down" one of the leading shipbuilding companies in the country. Who dreams to get off cheap, to get our assets just for peanuts? A respected organization name involuntarily comes to mind, the acronym of which consists of three capital letters," the press release says.
Severnaya Verf has denied allegation of abuse of authority and that it might foil the state defense order. "There were no facts of misappropriation of the plant’s assets detected” by the General Prosecutor's Office team that had conducted audit of the enterprise, the press release said.
The other day the prosecutor's office of St. Petersburg stated that it has opened a criminal case over unlawful acts of top management of "Shipbuilding plant" Severnaya Verf" that might lead to the failure of the state defense order and property damage to society (Article 201, part 1st of the Criminal Code).
The prosecutor’s office declined to comment the investigation details.
The state-owned United Shipbuilding Corp. had been in talks with Severnaya Verf on buyout deal. However, later the both parties failed to come to an agreement over the SV’s assets price. 75.8% of shares of Severnaya Verf were transferred under the pledge agreement to the Central Bank of the Russian Federation.
