Neva-Metal’s H1 box volume rises 5 percent

Container throughput of the St. Petersburg-based Neva-Metal terminal in the first half of this year grew by 5% from a year earlier, to 23,000 TEUs, Severstal Group press service said.

Total cargo throughput of the terminal in the reporting period amounted to 1 million tons, which corresponds to 2010’s numbers.

Ferrous metals (of the Cherepovets MC, a division Severstal Russian Steel), shipped in January - June made up 69 percent of the total cargoes handled at the terminal, or 800,000 tons. Containerized cargoes account for 25 percent of half-year throughput, 16,000 tons, or about 23,000 TEUs). Shipment of general cargo totaled about 35,000 tons (3% of the total volume). Suction and grab bulk made up 2%, about 25,000 tons.

CJSC Neva-Metal is a division of Severstal Russian Steel. The stevedore company handles ferrous metals and containers at berths located in the 3rd cargo area of Big Port St. Petersburg. In 2010, cargo volume handled by the company totaled 2.374 million tons.
