The Investigative Committee’s Volga transport investigative department opened a criminal case against the director of Volga Travel Ltd. and owner of the passenger river boat over neglect of safety issues, the Russian Investigative Committee said.
According to investigators, from September 8, 2006 through July 13, 2011 Volga Travel Ltd. provided services for passengers that did not meet the requirements of safety of life and health of consumers on board of MV Peter Alabin.
On July 15, 2011 based on prosecutor's inspection the regional Kazan city court banned the MV Peter Alabin operation due to its poor technical condition.
