The Investigative Committee has established preliminary results of investigation into the MV Bulgaria accident and a possible cause of the disaster, the Committee head said.
Alexander Bastrykin has informed Russian President Dmitry Medvedev during a meeting with heads of law enforcement agencies, the Kremlin press service reported.
As it was expected, the immediate cause of the accident was poor technical condition of the vessel.
The double-decked river boat with 201 people on board capsized and sank on July 10 on the Volga river near the village of Syukeevo of Kama-Ust'insky region of Tatarstan resulting in the deaths of 122 passengers, crew and the captain.
