Cargo volume handled by JSC Vostochny Port in the first half of 2011 increased by 11% compared to H1, 2010, to 8 178 000 tons, the company said.
In June, cargo traffic was up 9 percent from last year’s numbers, to 1 472 600 tons.
Half-year coal exports passing through Specialized Coal Terminal totaled 6 699 900 tons, a 9 percent growth. In June, the SCT handled 1 139 500 tons (+1%).
Cargo throughput of Universal Transshipment Terminal (PPC-1) handled for the six-month period rose by 20 percent to 1 478 900 tons. In June, freight traffic at the terminal soared by 50 percent from a year earlier to 333 100 tons.
Vostochny Port JSC is the largest stevedore company in the Russian Far East operating at the port of Vostochny. The company specializes in handling of coal exported from Russia’s Kemerovo region. Currently, coal exports account for nearly 95% of total throughput of the company.
The company’s assets include a Specialized Coal Terminal and Universal Transshipment Terminal (PPK-1) for handling general and bulk cargoes (coal, coke, clinker, iron ore, timber, etc.) as well as metals, pulp, aluminum, chemical, heavy-lift and oversized cargo. The company owns a fleet of powerful tugboats able to berth 150000dwt vessels.
In 2010, the stevedore handled 14 700 300 tons of cargo (+1%), while Universal Terminal’s throughput rose by 21% year-over-year to 2 802 600 tons.
