Former head of Civil Shipbuilding Department of United Shipbuilding Corp. Dmitry Sapov was appointed as CEO of Caspian Energy group of companies (CNRG Group), a Russian manufacturer of complex marine equipment for offshore operations, a spokesman for USC said.
The Corp. said the appointment of new CEO is the next stage in a deal to acquire a 41 percent stake in CNRG by United Shipbuilding Corporation
"Taking into account the prospects of offshore shipbuilding division for the Corporation its top manager experienced in large-scale construction of offshore shipbuilding was charged to head the CNRG Group," USC’s spokesman Alexei Kravchenko said.
JSC Group of Companies "Caspian Energy”(CNRG Group) was founded in 2006. The Group is focused on design, construction and installation of the equipment for offshore oil and gas deposits. The Group operates as the Russian EPCI contractor (engineering, procurement, construction, maritime operations). The Group comprises a number of divisions: Engineering division - Center of Marine Technology "Shelf ", including four design bureaus, “Coral”, based in Sebastopol, “Vimpel” (Nizhny Novgorod), "Caspian" and “Astramarin" (Astrakhan); Manufacturing division is represented by Astrakhan Shipbuilding Production Association (ASPA); Service is provided by Crane Marine Contractor LLC, the operator of ships and floating cranes for the offshore operations. JSC United Shipbuilding Corporation, founded in 2007, incorporates three regional shipbuilding centers: JSC Western Shipbuilding Center (St. Petersburg), JSC Northern Center of Shipbuilding and Ship Repair (Severodvinsk), JSC Far Eastern Center of Shipbuilding and Ship Repair (Vladivostok), as well as leading marine design offices. United Shipbuilding Corporation also has a 50% stake in Arctech Helsinki Shipyard, a joint venture with STX Finland Cruise Oy.
