OJSC Commercial Sea Port of Vladivostok (member of FESCO Transport Group) has put into service newly purchased container handling equipment, CPV said Thursday.
Two Liebherr RMG container cranes have commenced operation at the off-dock container yard of berths number 14 and 15. The rail mounted stacking cranes worth EUR 8 million have lifting capacity of 45 tons and performance of up to 30 containers an hour. The cranes were suited for the technological requirements of the container yard.
Features of technology are broad gauge - 63 m, the size of the consoles - 15 m each, main beam length - 100 m, its weight - 165 tons. The total cost of new equipment around 8 million euros.
Liebherr Container Cranes’ Managing Director Pat O'Leary noted that CPV is now the only Far Eastern port operating Liebherr RMG cranes.
"The development of the container segment is a priority direction of our business. Our company is engaged in reconstruction and upgrade of its production facilities, taking into account the increased pace of handling containers," said CPV’s General Director Vladimir Korchanov.
He said that year-to-date the company has invested over RUB 700 million in the overhaul and upgrade of berths number 14 - 15.
In January-August container traffic at CVP’ box terminal surged 30 percent from last year’s figure to 272,200 TEUs. Year-end container volume is projected at 410,000 TEUs.
Commercial Seaport of Vladivostok, member of FESCO Transport Group, owns and operates its assets at the port of Vladivostok, one of the largest Russian seaports in the Far East. Port of Vladivostok encompasses 55 ha, over 14 km of waterfront with 17 berths, including terminals for handling grain, containers, imported cars and a passenger terminal. In 2010, CPV’s cargo throughput rose year-over-year by 11% to 6.9 million tons.
