In January-September 2011 OJSC North-Western Shipping Company (NWSC) carried 4.4 million tons of different cargoes, the volume on a par with last year’s numbers, the shipping company said Monday.
In the reporting period, the volume of grain cargoes, non-ferrous metals and metal products soared by 51 percent year-on-year, to 1.1 million tons, and to 172,000 tons, respectively. Transportation of construction materials grew by 29 percent to 208,000 tons, of fertilizers - to 737,000 tons (+20%).
The volume of export shipments remained at the level of 2010 (more than 2 million tons). H1, 2011 export volume decline was compensated by increased exports of grain, non-ferrous metals and metal products, the report says.
The volume of inbound cargoes hauled by NWSCo in Jan-Sept. rose by 32% to 609,000 tons. The volume of foreign-to-foreign trades remained at the level of 2010, 1.7 million tons.
