OOCL container volumes up 6.6 percent in Q3

The Board of Directors of Orient Overseas (International) Limited has announced unaudited operations results for the third quarter of 2011 (ended 30th September 2011). According to the Company’s quarterly statement total container volumes rose by 6.6% from the same period last year.

Total revenues decreased by 8.3% to US$1,440.6 million.  With an increase of 13.9% in loadable capacity, the overall load factor was 5.1% lower than the same period in 2010.  Overall average revenue per TEU dropped by 14.0% compared to the third quarter of last year.

In January-September (ended 30th September 2011), total container traffic increased by 8.4% over the same period last year. Total revenues for the period were 2.1% up compared to Jan-Sept, 2010.  Loadable capacity increased by 16.3%, and the overall load factor was 5.5% lower than the corresponding period in 2010. Overall average revenue per TEU decreased by 5.8% compared to the same period last year.
