Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) and Osaka Gas International Transport have agreed on Friday to co-own two newbuilding LNG carriers to be built at Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI), Seatrade Asia online reports. The new LNG carriers are scheduled to be delivered in 2014 and 2015 respectively. MOL will manage the ships under a 20-year contract to transport LNG for Osaka Gas.
The 153,000 cubic metres class carriers feature fuel efficiency to reduce CO2 emissions and adoption of a new steam turbine engine to capture and use re-heating steam.
