Throughput of Helsinki port climbs 3 percent to 9.35 mln tons
Cargo traffic at the port of Helsinki in January-November of 2011 rose 3 percent from the same period of 2010, to 9.35 million tons, the Helsinki Port Authority said.
In November, monthly throughput fell by 6% to 819,000 tons.
The eleven-month volume of imports increased by 4 percent to 4,831,000 tons, exports – were up 2 percent to 4.52 million tons. Passenger traffic grew by 5 percent from a year before, to 9,485,000 people with a slight 2 percent gain in November to 725,000 passengers.
Port of Helsinki is a largest port in Finland. Cargo throughput of the port in 2010 grew by 12% y-o-y to 10,921,000 tons, container traffic rose 11% to 399,903 TEUs, Ro-Ro cargo shipments totaled 488,772 units (+13%).
