Port Vanino throughput down 2.5 percent to 5.63 million tons
The volume of cargo handled at the terminals of JSC Port Vanino totaled 5,630,400 tons as of December 15, which accounts for 97.5% of last year’s numbers, or down 2.5 percent from the period of January-Dec. 15, 2010, the company said.
During this period, the stevedore handled 2,410,400 tons of outbound cargo, including 901,200 tons of timber cargo, 113,900 tons of nonferrous metals and 1,370,700 tons of coal.
Year-to-date volume of inbound goods increased by 13% to 1,376,400 tons, including 1,201,800 tons of alumina and 132,500 tons of petroleum coke and coke.
Short sea traffic volume amounted o 341,500 tons, of which 180,800 tons of coal. Throughput of Vanino-Kholmsk ferry line was up 1 percent to 1,502,000 tons. In the reporting period Port Vanino handled 1,248 vessels, 678 of them ferries, and 56,000 rail cars. Container traffic totaled 6,500 TEUs.
JSC Vanino Commercial Sea Port (Port Vanino) is the major operator of Port of Vanino (Khabarovsk Territory). The port is a gateway for trade flows between Russia and Japan, South Korea, China, Australia, USA and other countries of Asia Pacific Region. Vanino also handles imports shipped to the northern regions of Russia. Port Vanino operates handling facilities located on quay wall of total length of about 2.5-km. In 2010, throughput of Port Vanino was up 0.2% year-on-year, to about 6 million tons, while ten-month cargo volume was down 5.3% from last year’s figures, to 4.87 million tons.
