Russia's inland waterways traffic rises 20 percent
The volume of cargo carried on inland waterways of Russia during this year navigational period increased by 20% from the same period of 2010, to 125.6 million tons, Rosmorrechflot said Friday.
In the reporting period, Russian shipping companies transported 14 million passengers via Russia’s inland waterways, Viktor Vovk, deputy head of the Federal Agency of Maritime and River Transport (Rosmorrechflot) said at Rosmorrechflot’s Board meeting. According to him, the main problem for shipping companies this year was low water.
