CMA CGM, together with CSCL and UASC, will jointly operate a reorganised CIMEX 1 service on the Asia-Middle East market from 2 February, Seatrade Asia online reports. The new service will have seven vessels. CMA CGM will contribute one 12,500 teu ship, CSCL will deploy three 14,400 teu ships and UASC will provide three 13,000 teu ships.

The CIMEX 1 will replace two existing services: CIMEX/AMA for CMA CGM and CSCL which currently operates with 8,500 teu vessels and AGX 1 for UASC which presently operates with 3,600 teu vessels.

The CIMEX 1 port rotation will be Tianjin, Dalian, Busan, Shanghai, Ningbo, Shekou, Port Klang, Khorfakkan, Jebel Ali, Port Klang, Nansha, and Tianjin.

“The new CIMEX 1 marks an important step in the evolution of the worldwide maritime transport as it is the first time that vessels of such a capacity (14,000 teus) are employed on a market other than Asia-Europe,” CMA CGM said.
