Singapore, the world's second bigger container port, moved 2.54m teu of boxes in January, up 5.2% compared to 2.42m teu in January 2011.
Last month's volumes were down compared to 2.64m teu recorded in December 2011, according to figures from the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA).
In 2011, Singapore handled 29.94m teu of throughput, behind China's Shanghai port with 31.74m teu.
