Port of Tacoma's container throughput falls 11.6 percent in February

US Port of Tacoma said its container throughput went down by 11.6 percent year-on-year to 102,941 TEUs in February, Cargonews Asia reports.

The port handled 61,114 TEUs of foreign containers, down from the 69,402 TEUs in February 2011. Further, the throughput of domestic boxes dropped to 29,619 TEUs from 32,457 TEUs.

In the first two months of 2012, the port's container throughput fell by four percent on the year to 212,538 TEUs. The port reported a three percent decline to 151,187 TEUs in the foreign container throughput and a 6.8 percent fall to 61,351 TEUs in the throughput of domestic boxes.
