Their container terminals are crammed with unclaimed goods, while the companies and enterprises that ordered them a few months ago lack funds to pay for them because of the financial crisis.
A special commission of the US Department of Justice, which includes representatives of the Lithuanian and Ukrainian ministries of transport and customs services, is on the way to help remedy the situation in the major seaports.
The commission's chief task would be to improve the operation of container terminals on the part of customs bodies and the transport ministries.
