In January-October, 2008, the ports of the Baltic states handled 115.5 million tonnes (-1.7%, year-on-year), Latvia’s Central Statistics Bureau reports according to RZD-Partner. In the reported period the ports of Latvia accounted for 45.5% of all cargoes, Lithuania – 28.3%, Estonia – 26.2%.
The ports of Latvia handled 52.5 million tonnes of cargo (+1%), Lithuania – 32.7 million tonnes (+22.8%), Estonia – 30.3 million tonnes (-22.1%).
The largest volume of cargo was handled by the port of Klaipeda – 25.3 million tonnes (+10.8%), Tallinn – 24.3 million tonnes (-22.3%), Riga – 24.3 million tonnes (+13.2%).
In 2007, the ports of the Baltic states handled 139.2 million tonnes of cargo.
