In January-November, 2008, the ports of the Russian Federation handled 416.5 million tonnes of cargo (+1.4%, or 5.8 million tonnes, year-on-year), Association of Sea Commercial Ports informs. In the reported period the port handled 177.2 million tonnes of dry cargo (+6.0%) and 239.3 million tonnes of liquid bulk cargo (-1.4%).
Operators of service terminals in the North-West Basin handled 196.7 million tonnes of cargo (+2.7%) including 80 million tonnes of dry cargo (+7%) and 116.7 million tonnes of liquid bulk cargo (similar to the result of the previous year). The port of Archangelsk handled 10.1 million tonnes (+16.3%); Kaliningrad – 14.3 million tonnes (+1.1%), Murmansk – 25.7 million tonnes (+9.5%); St. Petersburg – 56.2 million tonnes (+2.9%).
The ports of the Southern Basin decreased their throughput by 0.6% to 145.4 million tonnes including 99.9 million tonnes of liquid bulk cargo (-1.9%, year-on-year) and 45.5 million tonnes of dry cargo (+2.0%). The port of Novorossiysk handled 103.2 million tonnes (-1.3%), Tuapse – 17.9 million tonnes (+0.2%), Taman – 9.3 million tonnes (+32.7%), Makhachkala – 5.9 million tonnes (+1.5%).
