China ports traffic volumes up 6.9 percent
Cargo traffic at the ports of China in January-July 2012 increased by 6.9% compared to the same period of 2011, to 5.5 billion tons, the Transportation Ministry of China statistics said.
In the reporting period, container throughput grew by 8 from last year’s numbers to 99.57 million TEUs. Shipments of containers through the country’s seaports in July increased by 3.8% to 15.1 mln TEUs.
In 2011, total container traffic at the country’s ports amounted to about 9 billion tons.
