RTL starts Novaya Gavan terminal P2 construction
The group of companies Russian Transport Lines (RTL) has commenced the construction of Ust-Luga based New Gavan (New Harbor) terminal Phase 2, the Group said in a statement Monday. The second phase includes large-scale dredging, which will enable the terminal to accommodate 9-meter-draft vessels.
The dredging contract scope - 405,700 cubic meters. Time of the contract execution - November 2012. The dredging is funded through the federal budget.
The Customer - Rosmorport. The Contractor - Investment. Engineering. Construction (IEC). Dredging Subcontractor – Germany-based Josef Mobius Bau AG (a division of Strabag Group). Surveying work in the harbor - LLC Marine Geodesy. Buoy-laying will be performed by JSC Navitel.
RTL inaugurated the marine terminal New Gavan on November 11, 2011in the port of Ust-Luga. The Group has invested RUB 1.5 million in the facility construction and is set to inject another 3 billion rubles in the project development in the period until 2014. Public investment for the same period is valued at RUB 2.5 billion. To date, the state has spent RUB 330 million mainly for dredging and reclamation works.
The terminal first phase capacity will be about 250,000 imported vehicles a year. Besides, RTL mulls handling at the terminal other types of Ro-Ro cargoes. In 2012, part of the vehicles currently transshipped at the port of St. Petersburg, will be shifted to the new Ust-Luga-based terminal, which will focus on handling new imported cars.
