Port Ilyichevsk cargo volumes rose 12.87 percent in August
Cargo traffic at state-run Sea Commercial Port of Illichivsk in August 2012 rose 12.87% from the same period a year before, to 1,289,000 tons, the company statistics said.
The monthly volume includes 436,000 tons of general cargo, 172,000 tons of liquid bulk and 681,000 tons of dry bulk cargo. Grain exports through the port’s terminal soared by 265%, shipments of edible oil jumped by 214%, of imported vehicles - by 34%, of meal - by 27%.
From January to August, the port stevedores moved 9,377,000 tons of different cargoes, including 3,642,000 tons of general cargo, 1,128,000 tons of liquid bulk and 4,607,000 tons of dry bulk cargo.
In the reporting period, the port handled 1,120 vessels and 101,235 railcars.
State-owned Sea Commercial Port of Illichivsk (Ilyichevsk) ranks among Ukraine’s top 4 seaports. The Port of Ilyichevsk encompasses 346 ha, 6km of waterfront with 29 berths. Its handling and warehouse facilities enable import/export freight flows of over 30 million tons a year. In 2010, cargo throughput of the port fell by 7.5% year-over-year, to 15,55m tons. Projected container throughput is 1.15 million TEUs. Since 2007, the port is capable of accommodation of three ocean-going container ships with a capacity of more than 5,000 TEUs, and length of up to 300 m.
