Shanghai box throughput drops 7.1% in August
Container throughput at the world's largest container port Shanghai fell more than 7% in August to 2.61m teu, according to figures from Shanghai International Port (Group), Seatrade Asia online reports.
Throughput at the Chinese port last month decreased by 7.1% year-on-year from 2.81m teu in recorded in August 2011. Volumes also fell month-on-month compared to 2.84m teu in July.
In the first eight months of this year, Shanghai moved a total of 21.31m teu of boxes.
