AET bags Statoil DP2 shuttle tanker contract
AET has bagged a contract with Statoil two operate two DP2, 120,000 dwt, shuttle tankers, Seatrade Asia online reports. The tanker arm of MISC will operate the two vessels through a joint venture, AET Sea Shuttle, with ship manager OSM Group. The two tankers are to be built at a South Korean yard.
“This is a landmark partnership for AET and confirms our skills and experience in the specialist DP sector. We are already operating DP vessels in the Brazilian basin and will soon have two DP capable aframax tankers employed in the US Gulf, “ said Hor Weng Yew, president and ceo of AET
The vessels will be equipped for harsh environment operation in the North/Barents Sea and on long term contracts to Statoil with options for up to 20 years. There is also an option for the vessels to equipped LNG powered dual fuel engines.
