Yamal LNG has invited Russian shipbuilders, carriers for competitive bidding on contract for the construction and operation of Arc7-class LNG carriers, the company said.
The bidders' names, including seven shipyards and 13 shipping companies, are not disclosed. The company will post Pre-Solicitation Notice and the tender details will be announced by the end of 2012.
The ice-class LNG tankers should provide a year-round transportation of LNG produced by Yamal LNG project. They must be capable of operating at -50 Cº and sail in ice of thickness up to 2.1 m, the company statement said.
