A Damen Shipyards highly maneuverable multipurpose tractor-tug of capacity of 3300 hp has arrived in the Port of Tuapse. The vessel was purchased for the port’s stevedore JSC Tuapse Commercial Sea Port, the company press release said.
The ATD tug named ‘Samson’ is intended for towing and docking large tonnage vessels, fire fighting, environmental and rescue service. The vessel was acquired for RUB 190 million.
The Samson is the sixth tug purchased by Tuapse Commercial Sea Port. In 2011, the company, implementing its fleet renewal program commissioned into service two Damen tugs: the Daedalus and the Agoi of 2.000 hp each.
JSC Tuapse Commercial Sea Port (TMTP), founded in 1994, is the main stevedore company operating at one of the largest southern ports of Russia - the Port of Tuapse. TMTP is majority owned by UCL Port (65.06%), which is part of the international transportation group UCL Holding. Russian Government holds a 25% stake in the company. The nine-month cargo volume handled by the stevedore totaled 12.4 million tons.
